The HGC 1400 Spline® DB 42 rear wheel is the poster child of the hybrid gravel wheel category from DT Swiss!
During the development of this elegant carbon wheel for high-end e-racing and gravel bikes with ROAD BOOST installation dimensions, the focus was on unrestricted, off-road riding pleasure. The lightweight system wheel for disc brakes is based on the DT Swiss Hybrid Endurance line and delivers outstanding performance even off the main road.

Technologies:

• ROAD BOOST:
With the ROAD BOOST standard, the distance between the hub flanges is increased to improve stiffness and stability with a flatter spoke angle. This reduces the stress on the material by improving symmetry, which in turn greater durability. DT Swiss prefers the Road Boost standard for use on e-road bikes. With high loads from the driver and engine assistance, it better compensates for torsional forces and improves steering characteristics under load.

• TUBELESS:
All DT Swiss wheels are tubeless ready. The profiles of the DT Swiss rims are specially designed for tubeless use. The rim profile makes it easier to fit the right tyre and ensures a perfect fit. The tubeless system of the rim consists of DT Swiss Tubeless Ready Tape for sealing and a DT Swiss tubeless valve in a length that complies with the rim. When using tubeless ready tyres, it is mandatory to use a compatible sealant. However, it is also possible to use a conventional combination of tyre and inner tube.

• RATCHET SYSTEM:
The Ratchet System from DT Swiss has proven itself through high reliability. This reliability is the result of the simultaneous meshing of the teeth of two high-precision star ratchets, which distributes the forces evenly over a large contact area. With the DT Swiss Ratchet System, two conical springs ensure the correct alignment of the ratchets. The degree engagement depends on the number of teeth. The no-tool concept allows easy maintenance and tool-free conversion to common axle and freehub body standards.

• BEARINGS:
Thanks to years of experience, DT Swiss only uses durable cartridge bearings without bearing play adjustment. DT Swiss hubs are designed to have the optimum axial and radial bearing play when they are properly installed. The correct preload of the bearings to compensate for the clamping force of the wheel mounting system is the basis for a play-free hub with minimum friction.

• PRO LOCK®:
DT Pro Lock® prevents the spoke-nipple connection from loosening. In the Pro Lock® process, a special dual component adhesive is injected into the nipple thread, allowing for extremely durable wheel builds. By threading the nipple onto the spoke the adhesive is activated and then hardens completely within a few hours. Re-truing the wheel is possible, yet it will cause a slight decrease in the adhesive power each time.
