That's how quickly your Black Lava is set up

The parcel has been delivered and you want to test your new bike as soon as possible? With the right tools, setting up your Black Lava is quick and easy. Here you can find out step by step what you need and how the assembly works.

• Diagonal cutting pliers or scissors
• Hex wrenches (8,6,5,4 mm)
• Torque wrench with bits (8, 6, 5, 4 mm)
• 15 mm spanner (for pedals without hexagon socket)
• Grease (mounting or bearing grease)
• Workstand (optional)

1. Open the box and take out the parts. In the manual you will find instructions on the assembly and the required torques.
2. Place the bike in a stand or ask someone else to hold it.
3. Remove the packaging material. For zip ties, use diagonal cutting pliers or scissors.

1. Loosen the stem clamp bolts (2) with a hex wrench. Do not loosen the adjusting bolt for the steering play (1).
2. Turn the handlebar in the direction of travel and align it with the front wheel.
3. Tighten the stem clamp bolts (2) alternately to a torque of 5-6 Nm.

1. Check the steering bearing for play by pulling the front brake and pushing the bike gently backwards and forwards.
   → There must be no noticeable play.
2. If you feel any movement inside the headset:
   • Loosen the stem clamp bolts (2) with a hex wrench. 

   • If you feel any movement inside the headset, turn the bolt for adjusting the steering play (1) a quarter turn clockwise.

   • Tighten the stem clamp bolts (2) alternately to a torque of 5-6 Nm.
3. Check the headset once again for play and repeat the previous steps, if need be, until there is no more play inside the bearing.

1. Loosen the handlebar clamp bolts by turning them anti-clockwise until the angle of your handlebar can be adjusted.
2. Centrally align the handlebar and adjust the angle.
3. First tighten the two upper bolts with a torque of 6 to 8 Nm.
   → There must be no gap between the clamp and the stem on the top side of the stem.
4. Then tighten the two lower bolts with a torque of 5 to 6 Nm.

1. Check the markings on the pedal sides (usually stamped with "L" and "R"), pick up the left pedal, and apply a little grease to the pedal thread.
2. Check if your bike was supplied with washers and slide both washers onto the pedal axles – if present.
3. Turn the left pedal anti-clockwise to screw it into the thread of the left crank arm and tighten the pedal to a torque of 35 Nm.
4. Turn the right pedal clockwise to screw it into the thread of the right crank arm and tighten the pedal to a torque of 35 Nm.
5. Note: Some pedals only have a mount for 15 mm spanners. Since it is attached to the outside of the crank, the angle of view relative to the direction of insertion changes each time.

1. Open the seat post clamp.
2. Change the height of the saddle by sliding the seat post up or down and make sure the saddle is straight.
   → The seat post comes with a minimum insertion line marked on it. Make sure that this line is not visible after adjusting the saddle height!
3. Tighten the bolt of the seat clamp to a maximum torque of 6 Nm.
4. Get on your bike and check whether the saddle height is right.

Your Black Lava is now ready to ride. Before your first ride, you should adjust the saddle height to suit you and break in the disc brakes.
