Conventional membranes are absolutely wind- and waterproof as well as breathable. However, one thing they do not offer is elasticity. With STRETCHDRY, SEALSKINZ has developed a membrane that not only offers perfect weather protection, but that also comes with stretch characteristics for high comfort. The material perfectly adapts to the individual body shape and movements.
This light fabric made from polypropylene impresses with a light protection from penetrating water thanks to its hydrophobic properties. It is fast-drying and feels pleasantly soft on the skin.
Compared to traditional wool, merino wool offers a particularly fine fibre. Due to the extreme weather conditions merino sheep are subjected to in nature, the wool is extremely temperature-regulating and is capable of wicking moisture away from the body particularly fast. This creates, even when wet, a warming protective layer for the body. As opposed to traditional wool, merino wool does not scratch when wet either. Therefore, merino is especially well suited for wearing it directly on the skin. What’s more, merino wool can also be worn very well on warm summer days, because its high breathability creates a cooling effect. Thanks to its natural sun protection factor, pleasant wearing comfort and fire retardancy, merino wool is a very popular fibre.
